Hello Friends and Associates of NQTA,
Since the Covid crisis hit and NQTA was no longer able to hold monthly gatherings, I have missed you. Fortunately, the outdoors has proven to be a safe and cool place to be throughout these past two years, and NQTA has been lucky to continue onward with its mission.
I now ask for your help, as NQTA has truly entered an evolutionary time. We are expanding our services with new expertise and energy, just as we did with NQTA’s 250-mile Q+M Trail Experience. We have created a fundraising campaign on Kindest to assist us in moving ahead with the following initiatives:
👣 The Department of Fish and Wildlife signed a trail license agreement with NQTA this past summer. We are now assuming lead stewardship for the full 22 miles of the Tully Trail, ensuring its continuance and improvement. As we install signage, build kiosks, and re-blaze the trail, there will be opportunities to name areas of the trail and kiosks in honor of your loved ones, while supporting NQTA’s ongoing commitment to this trail.
🦅 The NQTA Hike + Heal Initiative has taken root and blossomed over the past few months. Growing in partnership with over a dozen healing professionals, all of whom offer their own mind-body integrated wellness services to veterans in their communities, NQTA connects the healers with veterans (and now community members as well) to serve them in their own healing journeys.
🦉 We have brought a spectacular mapmaker onto our team, and are looking forward to updating and digitizing our map collection. We have also developed and are implementing a Trail Action Stewardship Report, which will address ongoing trail issues. Both of these initiatives will begin with our North Quabbin community jewel, the Bearsden Conservation Area.
These are just some of the major initiatives that we implemented in 2021, and will carry forward with enthusiasm into 2022. Additionally, NQTA has grown expeditiously in the past year and has brought on much needed paid staffing. We are excited to further build on our community outreach efforts and trail services in the coming year! Your annual gift is critically needed and appreciated during this time of rapid expansion. Please give as much as you can to help us continue on this trail!
Thank you, and many happy trails and good health to you all!
